JOHANNES GUTENBERG’S AMAZING INVENTION, THE MOVABLE TYPE PRINTING PRESS, IS BROKEN, AND YOUR HELP IS NEEDED TO REPAIR IT!
The invention of the movable type printing press by Johannes Gutenberg in 1439 had a huge impact on the rapid spread of all of Luther’s works, including his German translation of the Bible, to the common people throughout Europe, and all the way to the Pope in Rome.
Today, you are taking a trip back in time to the 15th century, the year 1439 to be exact, to help Gutenberg with his important project. You find him at work on the first printing press, but he looks perplexed. He says,
“Just yesterday my new invention was working well, but today I’ve had a setback, and I need your help to repair the press. The parts I need are available from local shopkeepers, but they won’t sell them to me until you solve three puzzles and open the locks they’ve created. Check out the links for details of my story and for clues to open the locks! Hurry, because I need to begin my first printing project soon!”
You are the only hope for opening the locks so Gutenberg can repair his press. The first lock is waiting for you below. I think you’ll have to find an important date related to Gutenberg in order to open it!
